Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between CGST, SGST, and IGST?

Under India's dual GST regime: CGST (Central GST) is levied by the Central Government on intra-state supply. SGST (State GST) is levied by the State Government. When a sale occurs within the same state, tax is split 50:50 between CGST and SGST. For interstate supply (one state to another), a single IGST (Integrated GST) is charged at the full rate.

What is the formula for Adding GST vs Removing GST?

Adding GST: GST Amount = (Base Price × Rate) ÷ 100. Net Total = Base Price + GST Amount.
Removing GST: Base Price = (Gross Amount × 100) ÷ (100 + Rate). GST Amount = Gross Amount - Base Price.
